Weather Situation
A weak ridge extends over northern Queensland waters. A high in the western
Tasman Sea will intensify during today and Friday, extending a strengthening
ridge along the east Queensland coast.

Peninsula Waters, Torres Strait to Cooktown:
Thursday until midnight:  Winds: E to SE 10 to 15 knots, reaching 15 to 20 knots
at times in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1.2 metres outside the reef,
increasing to 1.7 metres in the afternoon and evening, and 0.7 increasing  to
1.2 metres inside the reef. Swell: Less than 1.5 metres. Scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms.
Friday:  Winds: E to SE 10 to 15 knots, reaching 15 to 20 knots at times south
of Cape Grenville. Seas: 1.2 to 1.7 metres outside the reef, and 0.7 to 1.2
metres inside the reef.  Swell: Less than 1.5 metres. Scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms. 
Saturday:  Winds: E to SE 10 to 15 knots, reaching 15 to 20 knots south of
Lockhart River.

North Tropical Waters, Cooktown to Cardwell:
Thursday until midnight:  Winds: Variable 5 to 10 knots, tending E to SE 10 to
15 knots during the morning, and reaching E to SE 15 to 20 knots at times north
of Cape Tribulation in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 0.6 metre increasing to
1.2 metres outside the reef, and to 1.7 metres north of Cape Tribulation in the
afternoon and evening, and 0.7 to 1.2 metres inside the reef. Swell: Less than
1.5 metres. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Friday:  Winds: SE 15 to 20 knots.  Seas: 1.7 metres outside the reef, and 1.2
metres inside.  Swell: Less than 1.5 metres. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms.
Saturday:  Winds: E to SE 15 to 20 knots.

Tropical Waters, Cardwell to Bowen:
Thursday until midnight:  Winds: E to NE 5 to 10 knots, tending SE to NE 10 to
15 knots in the evening and reaching 15 to 20 knots at times offshore. Seas: 0.7
to 1.2 metres, reaching 1.7 metres offshore in the evening. Swell: Less than 1.5
metres. Isolated showers and thunderstorms, more scattered north of Townsville
this morning.
Friday:  Winds: E to SE 15 to 20 knots, reaching 20 to 25 knots south of
Townsville in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1.7 metres, increasing to 2.2
metres south of Townsville.  Swell: Less than 1.5 metres. Scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms. 
Saturday:  Winds: E to SE 15 to 20 knots.

Central Coast Waters, Bowen to St Lawrence:
Thursday until midnight:  Winds: E to NE 10 to 15 knots, tending SE 15 to 20
knots during the afternoon and increasing to 20 to 25 knots south of Mackay in
the evening. Seas: 1.2 metres in open waters, increasing to 1.7 metres in the
afternoon and to 2.2 metres south of Mackay in the evening. Swell: Less than 1.5
metres. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. 
Friday:  Winds: SE 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 2.2 metres.  Swell: Less than 1.5
metres. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Saturday:  Winds: E to SE 20 to 25 knots.
