Weather Situation A high in the western Tasman Sea will intensify during today and Friday, extending a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. A trough over the southwest Coral Sea will deepen and move west on Friday. Forecast Thursday until midnight: Winds: E to NE 10 to 15 knots, increasing E to SE 15 to 20 knots from the south in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1.2 metres, increasing to 1.7 metres in the Capricorn Channel in the afternoon. Swell: Less than 1.5 metres. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Friday: Winds: E to SE 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots south of Creal Reef in the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1.5 metres, increasing to 2.2 metres in the Capricorn Channel.
